CE 379 Light-driven Catalytic Proc. and Eng.
The aim of the course is to provide knowledge and understanding of the concepts of light-driven catalytic chemical processes and their engineering. The course has the aim of outlining perspectives, development and practical utilization (i.e. scale-up and integration) of light-driven chemical processes (with emphasis on environmental-related industrial processes, typically in waste treatment). This course will equip students with a comprehensive view of the fundamental aspects and detailed insight of the various methods and challenges in increasing its practical industrial exploitation.
Upon completion of this course, students will: understand the fundamental concepts of light-driven chemical processes; be able to analyze the appropriateness of adoption in homogeneous and/or heterogeneous process for specific industries; be able to identify the elements needed in guiding light-path in photoreactors engineering; be able to innovate and apply new photoreactor designs to suit emerging applications in near future.
