ERPE 253 Hydrocarbon Production System

The Hydrocarbon Production System course covers the fundamental knowledge and applications related to production system analysis in subsurface geo-energy systems, with the objective of maximizing well productivity or injectivity in a cost-efficient manner. The aim of the course is to teach students about different fluid flow units in the production system, including near-well regions, wellbores, and surface networks, and their impact on production performance. The course content covers topics such as inflow performance relationships in various reservoir fluids, near-well condition characterization, single/multi-phase fluid flow in the wellbore/pipeline/choke, completion designs, and production from unconventional reservoirs, with an emphasis on applying theories and methods through engineering problem-solving.
