Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- work with design principles and properties in the creation of textiles;
- begin to understand the design process from concept to finished drawings and samples and the professional presentation;
- begin to understand the variety of design possibilities with the suitability of chosen materials;
- create several small design collections for application in a studio practice;
- begin to identify the developmental influences of cultural/historic textiles in the context of student’s own design work;
- begin to identify the developmental influences of cultural/historic textiles in the work of contemporary textile designers; and
- begin to understand the interrelationship between structure (form) and function (content) and how this relates to contemporary design work and specifically to the student’s development of ‘personal signature’ in their work.
