OTEC 120 Business Math and Calculators teaches the touch method of calculator use, explains common calculator features, and emphasizes business and personal problem solving. Multiplication, division, the memory function, decimals, fractions, percentages and discounts are all introduced as well as the metric system and conversions. Students use practice drills throughout the course to enhance speed and accuracy.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division on a desktop calculator;
- use the calculator to maximum advantage through the use of memory registers, constant factors, add mode, decimal selection, and rounding;
- demonstrate the ability to change fractions, decimals, and percentages to equivalents;
- find percentage, rate, and base;
- apply computational skills to business-related tasks including extending and auditing invoices, installment buying, interest calculating, commission and wage calculating, prorating, discounting, mark ups and mark downs;
- achieve business standards for efficiency and quality of work; and
- use appropriate mathematical processes to solve problems accurately and efficiently.
