RHOT 161 Accommodation Management introduces students to the workings of a rooms division operation in a large hotel, including the responsibilities of key departments and positions within the division, as well as the check-in/checkout process, guest experience, security and emergency response, and the night audit. Revenue management and supply & demand are covered along with rooms divisions strategies and tactics to maximize revenues and profits.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:

  1. describe the different categories of lodging for diverse clientele.
  2. describe the different levels of service provided within the hotel industry.
  3. create an organizational chart of a hotel, including the rooms division department.
  4. identify each key department of the rooms division along with roles and responsibilities.
  5. explain the standards, processes, and technology used by the front office through the guest cycle.
  6. apply terminology and basic concepts related to front desk operations.
  7. explain the concepts of revenue management used in hotels.
