ECCE 292: Inclusive Practice Practicum is designed to provide the student, under supervision, with opportunities to apply and consolidate knowledge and skills in working with children with extra support needs in group settings. The student will complete the practicum in an inclusive child care program which serves children with diverse abilities and needs. Focus will be upon practical application of specialty skills in planning, implementing and evaluating daily programs, as well as demonstrating team building skills and facilitating inter and transdisciplinary cooperation.
Prerequisites: Early Childhood Care and Education Certificate or equivalent. Successful completion of ECCE 289, ECCE 287 and HSER 267 with a �C� or better.

Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- demonstrate an understanding of sound ethical and professional practices including a holistic ecological approach to supporting families in an inclusive early childhood setting;
- provide an environment for all children that fosters emotional and social wellbeing and development and demonstrates inclusive and non-biased attitudes;
- implement routines that meet differing needs within inclusive environments with competence and sensitivity;
- contribute effectively as a team member to an inclusive play based program by planning and supporting developmentally appropriate experiences;
- contribute to community building between the child care setting, the family and other community professionals;
- demonstrate competence and insight in developing individual plans which reflect multi-disciplinary collaboration; and
- apply assessment tools for increased reflective practice and to motivate the creation of quality environments.
