ENGR 101 Engineering Design and Communication II integrates instruction and activities in technical communications (written and oral) with engineering design. The learner will be introduced to fundamental principles and practical aspects of mechanical, electrical, and software engineering and will apply this knowledge in developing and implementing designs. The design methodology first covered in the ENGR 100 Engineering Design and Communication I course will continue to be developed. Learners will work in teams to execute a design project. Major written assignments will be based primarily on the design work done in this course.

Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- design a system comprised of computer, electrical, mechanical, and software subsystems following a standard structured process.
- apply discipline-specific technical knowledge in the design process and be able to explain the relevance of that knowledge to the disciplines in professional practice.
- identify business, social, environmental and regulatory considerations relevant to the execution of an engineering design project.
- apply selected tools for time and resource management in the context of an engineering design project.
- work as part of a team in the successful accomplishment of an engineering design project.
- develop an effective communication delivery plan by applying a problem-solving approach of identifying the purpose, audience, and content.
- plan, draft, revise, and edit the types of documents commonly required of technical professionals, such as routine correspondence, proposals, reports, presentations, emails and other forms of informational writing.
- incorporate research sources into technical documents, using Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) style.
- prepare and deliver a professional presentation with PowerPoint and other appropriate visual aids.
