Introduction to Professional Child and Youth Care is designed to provide an overview of the child and youth care field, and the professional identity of child and youth care workers, which will enable the student to work with and advocate for children, youth and families in a more effective way. Students will explore the historical development of the field and gain a working understanding of the key concepts and basic principles of practice in the Child and Youth Care field. They will develop a clear understanding of the similarities and differences in the role and function of Child Care Professionals and other Human Service Professionals.
