JEWL 102: Molten Metal: Introduction to Jewelry Casting, students will explore the sculptural side of jewelry through a variety of casting techniques and mold making. Students will create three dimensional forms with molten metal using the ancient techniques of direct pour, cuttlefish, and lost wax casting.

Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- complete a number of samples and projects which will demonstrate basic jewellery casting skills such as: safe use of an oxy-acetylene torch with a casting tip, melting and pouring metal into molds, carving wax models, spruing, investing, and constructing with cast elements;

- understand and demonstrate good studio health and safety practices.
