MUSC 252 Private Lesson III A - Non Performance Major

MUSC 252: Private Lesson III A. A weekly half-hour private instrumental or vocal lesson is provided for all Music Production, Composition, and General Music majors. Instruction is available on keyboard, woodwinds, saxophone, percussion, guitar, electric and acoustic bass, and voice. Lessons are designed to increase students� technical and musical abilities.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:

  1. Play the Harmonic Minor scale modes, Diminished Scales, and Drop 2 chord voicings in all keys;
  2. Improvise using the scales and arpeggios in various musical genres such as Blues, Rock and Jazz;
  3. Interpret and play the appropriate rhythm guitar figures in Motown, Reggae, Funk and Texas Shuffle Blues;
  4. Interpret and play Maj7(#11), Major and 9 (sus9), Min11, Min/maj7(9), Maj7#5, Dom9sus4, Dom9#11, and Dom7b9#5chords; and
  5. Interpret and play the Drop 2 chord voicings.
