BLCK 123: In Fabrication Techniques: Welded Forms, students will be introduced to the safe use of the MIG welder, oxygen and acetylene gases, and the plasma cutter. Exercises include samples using each process, accurate layout, and sculptural inflation.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- demonstrate proficient use of the welding equipment, plasma cutter and supplemental tooling to create sculptural forms; and
- by completing a series of assignments, a student will demonstrate an understanding of different welding techniques and when to apply them, an ability to prepare metal for welding with oxygen/acetylene and MIG welders, and basic welding skills (such as welding beads, seams, plugs and angles). A student will also demonstrate the ability to safely use the plasma cutter to cut out designs/shapes from sheet steel and inflate them.
