TEXT 107 Felt and Colour has a dual focus. In the dye section, protein fibres (primarily raw wool fleece) will be immersion dyed with weak acid dyes, allowing a study of colour theory, colour relationships and colour mixing. The felting section is an introduction of traditional felting techniques within a contemporary context.

Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- Dye safely
- Use felting tools safely
- Utilize various methods of dyeing safely as part of with the felting process
- Use approaches to felt making including inlay, wool paper, cut out, secondary structures and making felt yardages
- Apply pattern and repeats in felt making
- Exhibit critical thinking in regards to felt
- Dye evenly
- Apply colour precisely using the immersion dye process
- Calculate and measure dye quantities and auxiliary chemicals in the metric system
- Keep accurate records
- Reproduce colours accurately
- Manipulate and predict colour effects
- Apply dyes correctly to achieve best fastness of colour
- Prepare and manipulate wool into felted cloth
