GCOOL 111: Accounting for Golf Operations Part #1, presents accounting concepts and explains how they apply to specific operations within the club industry. The text was written for managers in the club industry and students in two-year and four-year college-level courses.
Prerequisites: It is helpful if students have a very basic understanding of accounting. Students must have strong written and computer skills. Students are required to have computer access and high-speed Internet, Microsoft Office 2003 software, Adobe Reader and Shockwave Player.

Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- describe the characteristics of the club industry and identify the functions of club accounting;
- identify and explain several generally accepted accounting principles and apply them to the club industry;
- identify the content, uses, and purposes of the three major financial statements;
- apply and interpret several financial ratios that help club managers better manage and organize operations;
- explain cost concepts and apply them to club operations; and
- differentiate between operations budgets, cash budgets, and capital budgets and describe the nature and function of each.
Additional Assessment Notes: Letter grades of C- to A+, P (pass), and F (fail) will be used. "I" (incomplete) may be temporarily given to the student who is unable to complete course assignments by the end of the semester because of illness or another valid reason, but only after consultation with the instructor. A "W" (withdraw) can be obtained by withdrawing from the course before the College deadline for withdrawals.
