PTEC 213: Transition to Professional Practice is designed to support students in preparing for preceptorship, licensure exams upon graduation, and entry to practice. Students build on their knowledge of regulatory requirements, jurisprudence, and ethical and professional practice

Prerequisites: Successful completion of Semester 1 and 2 courses in PTEC Program

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:

  1. develop learning plans for community and institutional practicum experiences using a professional competency framework;
  2. describe steps of the regulation process for Pharmacy Technician graduates in preparation for provincial jurisprudence exams and national PEBC qualifying exams;
  3. differentiate the format and content of jurisprudence and PEBC qualifying exams;
  4. identify strategies that support success in completing regulatory exams upon graduation;
  5. develop skills for successful employment applications and interviews; and
  6. discuss the professional responsibilities for ongoing registration including commitment to life-long learning and development of the profession.
