TWC 164 Business Communications I is an introduction to the fundamentals of effective written communication. Components include communication theory and its application to business situations. Students are required to master basic English writing skills and show competence in producing conventional technical formats, such as memoranda, business letters, short or informal reports, r�sum�s and cover letters.

Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- demonstrate an understanding of rhetorical context( audience, purpose, occasion) when planning and producing documents;
- apply this understanding of rhetorical context to the planning and producing of workplace messages (memos, letters, informal reports and resumes) using content that is appropriate, relevant, focused and cohesive;
- evaluate, revise and edit documents to improve content, organization, and style, using language that communicates meaning to readers with clarity, brevity and fluency;
- employ strategies for enhancing readability and document design, including headings, lists, and graphics; and
- generate and deliver complete, professional responses to typical job interview questions
