Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- explain and apply compounding interest as it relates to consumer credit and the development of personal wealth.
- apply the steps needed to create a good personal credit score.
- plan effective debt management and retirement strategies.
- develop an effective personal plan for personal financial safety and the prevention of identity theft.
- create a workable retirement and estate plan.
- explain effective personal tax planning strategies.
- create a workable personal investment plan considering tools including RSPs and TFSAs, and any other emerging investment tools as discussed in class.
- explain a variety of financial safety nets including employment insurance, bankruptcy and consumer proposals, Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security, insurance, and pensions.
