NURS 230: Consolidated Practice Experience II is a consolidated practice experience, opportunities are provided to develop caring relationships for the purpose of healing and health promotion with individuals and families experiencing increasingly complex chronic and episodic health challenges. The community and society are considered contextual influences on the promotion of health for the individual and family. They increase their understanding of the role of the professional nurse as a member of the health care team. Participants have opportunities to consolidate learning from first and second year of the program in a variety of settings. Practice advancement, within the context of this consolidated experience, focuses on enhancing learner knowledge, competence and confidence in the Domains of Practice.
Prerequisites: Successful completion of Semester 4 of Year 2 of the Nursing program. Current CPR Certificate (Level HCP-C or BLS)

Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- achieve integration and consolidation of previous learning from studies in Health and Healing, Relational Practice, Applied Health Sciences elective courses and previous practice courses;
- students will engage in inter-professional practice with a variety of disciplines.
- demonstrate safe, professional nursing practice;
- apply principles of teaching and learning in the context of client and family education;
- apply critical thinking, clinical judgment, organizational and decision-making skills when caring for clients in a variety of practice placement settings;
- identify appropriate rationale when performing psychomotor skills;
- perform psychomotor skills safely and skillfully;
- adapt their communication techniques in order to communicate effectively with their clients, peers, members of the health care team and their nursing instructor;
- adapt their approach to client assessments in order to effectively assess clients in a variety of situation;
- develop relationships with health team members, which foster confidence and ability to provide safe nursing care; and
Additional Assessment Notes: A grade of Credit or No Credit will be determined by the Selkirk College nursing instructor. Consistent satisfactory performance and attendance is required to achieve a grade of Credit.
