DA 113: Design Narrative: The principles of design, the functions of design, design theory, colour theory and typography are areas of study for DA 113, Intermediate Art and Design. Concepts are analyzed during lectures and discussion and are applied to projects using Adobe Illustrator.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- describe the functions of design;
- research elements of a narrative;
- map an original visual sequence or story;
- refine a design narrative and visual outcome through processes of critical reflection, feedback, and prototyping;
- arrange graphic design compositions using the principals of design;
- demonstrate appropriate use of additive and subtractive colour;
- produce a creative concept and final outcome that demonstrates awareness of context;
- explain linear and non-linear narrative approaches in design; and
- communicate design processes and outcomes in visual, oral and written forms with clarity and consideration to the needs of the audience.
