ECCE 169 Clinical Practicum II

ECCE 169: Clinical Practicum II is designed to integrate theories and practices in the ECCE field. Students will observe and participate in regional early childhood programs off campus. The clinical practicum provides opportunities to practice observing and recording children's individual abilities and interests over time, and, reflective practice and professional conduct.

Prerequisites: Satisfactory completion of all fall semester ECCE courses.

Corequisite: ECCE 186, ECCE 193, and PSYC 240

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:

  1. create pedagogical narrations to record children’s learning and development;
  2. use families as a resource in their child's growth and development; and
  3. and recognize and respect cultural, socio-economic and family diversity in all aspects of care.
  4. record children’s discoveries and learning in an unbiased and non-judgmental method;
  5. interpret children’s learning and demonstrate professional responsibilities for planning in practice;
  6. demonstrate personal and professional attributes in the practice of early childhood care and education;
  7. cultivate relationships and positive regard for children, families and others;
  8. communicate effectively with children, early childhood educators and fellow students and instructors;
