PGHM 151 Marketing examines the roles and functions of marketing in the tourism industry. The principles of customer service excellence and service recovery are discussed in detail. You are lead through planning, research, optimization, analytics and communications processes discovering how the "12 P's" are used in the marketing of tourism products and services. E-marketing, and social media techniques and strategies will be discussed and practiced.

  2. explain and integrate marketing terminology in class activities.
  3. describe the roles and functions of marketing in the tourism industry.
  4. differentiate between the marketing of tangible and intangible tourism products and services.
  5. explain how each of the “P’s” are used in marketing tourism products and services.
  6. develop marketing objectives and strategies.
  7. conduct primary research in tourism/recreation marketing.
  8. explain segmentation practices.
  9. outline the steps of the marketing planning process.
  10. explain the concepts of online and social media marketing.
  11. test social media marketing strategies
  12. analyze a marketing plan.
