NURS 319: Nursing Practice V: Promoting Health and Healing. This nursing practice experience continues to provide opportunities for learners to develop caring relationships with individuals and families, while coming to understand their health and healing process within the context of complex health issues. Participants will have opportunities to practice nursing approaches that accompany this understanding. Participants work with families and individuals in the home and community, in agencies, and in care facilities to incorporate concepts and learning from all the courses in the semester into their nursing practice, with an emphasis on the complex health challenges.
Prerequisites: Promotion to Study Semester 5 of the Nursing Program. CPR - HCP-C. Completion of SPECO Modules. Up-to-date immunization status according to practice within IH facilities (See AU100)
Corequisite: Travel Requirement � Access to safe and reliable transportation

Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- develop therapeutic, client-centered relationships with clients who have complex care needs;
- evaluate and adapt teaching and learning outcomes in order to meet clients complex care needs;
- integrates knowledge from human science and natural science in order to promote health and healing in clients experiencing complex health challenges;
- provide client -centered nursing care based on evidence-informed decision making and clinical judgement;
- critically reflect on nursing practice in order to advance clinical judgment, organizational and decision-making skills;
- demonstrate safe, professional nursing practice;
- develop collaborative relationships with health care team; and
- evaluate and adapt nursing practice based on the decision making framework.
Additional Assessment Notes: A grade of Credit or No Credit will be determined by the Selkirk College Nursing Instructor. Consistent satisfactory performance in all domains of practice as outlined in the Performance Appraisal Competency Form and attendance is required to achieve a grade of Credit.
