TSOL 105: Teaching Reading and Writing focuses on teaching theory and methodology used to develop ESL students� reading and writing skills in a second language classroom. It also offers practical knowledge on materials development, teaching activities and techniques, lesson and unit plan design, and the development of assessment tools.
Corequisite: Full time enrolment in the Selkirk College TESOL Program

Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:

- evaluate and modify materials for teaching reading and writing;
- analyze and develop language learning activities and techniques for teaching reading and writing;
- design a reading or writing unit that shows awareness of different learner needs;
- plan and deliver effective student-centred reading or writing lesson; and
- identify the means to measure learner progress in reading and writing.
