TSOL 114: Testing and Evaluation focuses on basic concepts and constructs of language assessment.� There is an examination of measurement criteria, standardized testing and types of tests.� Both formal and informal methods of testing, as well as the issues related to assessment of student proficiency are considered.
Corequisite: Full time enrolment in the Selkirk College TESOL Program.

Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- define the main characteristics and purposes of different types of assessment;
- create tasks that can be used on tests of the four language skills;
- use the principles of language assessment to evaluate classroom testing tasks; and
- assess student work in at least one of the language skill areas.
