TSOL 112 Grammar for Teachers

TSOL 112: Grammar for Teachers is an introduction to the fundamental structures of grammar as well as to the different approaches and techniques for grammar instruction in a second language context. This course will create a bridge between being a speaker of English and being a teacher of the language.

Prerequisites: Accepted to TESOL program. Note: Pre-requisites will be waived with the permission of the Instructor.

Corequisite: Full time enrolment in the Selkirk College TESOL Program

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:

  1. demonstrate knowledge of common grammar structures and the terminology used to identify them;
  2. identify and explain complex grammar structures in a teaching setting;
  3. design and deliver effective grammar lessons/segments;
  4. adapt and adopt appropriate materials for grammar instruction; and
  5. demonstrate understanding of different methodologies and approaches to grammar teaching.
