Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- calculate volumes, including volumes of rotation by either washers or shells;
- solve integration problems involving integration by parts, trig identities, trig substitution and partial fractions;
- recognize patterns in more complicated integrals and solve these with tables;
- find approximate integrals by the mid-point rule, the trapezoid rule, and Simpson’s rule;
- solve application problems including average values, surface area of revolution, and probability;
- identify and solve a linear differential equation;
- solve problems involving parametric equations and polar coordinates; and
- solve problems involving infinite sequences and series, including testing strategies, radii of convergence, power series, and Taylor series.
