OTEC 150: Word Processing I is designed to teach students basic functions of a word processing program as well as how to properly format business documents including letters and memorandums. Business standards in all documents are upheld throughout the course. Microsoft Word software is utilized as the learning platform; however, skills can be transferred to most word processing programs.

Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- create, save, print, close, open, and edit a Word document;
- professionally format a standard business letter and memorandum.
- enhance documents with character formatting including all caps, bold, underlining, italics, borders and shading, and fonts;
- format paragraphs with text alignment; indenting text, and changing line spacing; display non-printing characters;
- insert special symbols, bullets and numbers, and headers and footers;
- adjust page breaks and section breaks, control text flow, change margins and page orientation, create custom tab settings;
- insert objects, images, page borders, and watermarks;
- copy, move, rename, and print multiple documents including labels and envelopes;
- proof business documents with the spelling and grammar checks;
- utilize special features in Word documents such as AutoText, spacing between paragraphs, date and time and, dropped capital letters; and
