AGRS 23: Planting Gardens - Skill Building II builds upon the skills developed in AGRS 20. This course continues to provide students with the opportunity to build garden planters and plant flowers, herbs, and vegetables. The focus will be on mastering the specific skills associated with gardening, safety and tool usage. Students will also learn problem-solving strategies, self-management skills, workplace etiquette for task completion, and awareness of quality workmanship.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:

  1. formulate short- and long-term goals for course completion;
  2. design a plan for planting a garden;
  3. evaluate work completed and rate performance;
  4. practice problem-solving strategies;
  5. evaluate skills, abilities, work skills, habits, performance and compatibility;
  6. demonstrate good time management;
  7. develop and practice self-management skills for work;
  8. demonstrate appropriate and safe workplace etiquette to complete a task;
  9. follow task completion rules and safe procedures;
  10. define and use terminology related to gardening;
  11. recognize standards for quality and essential areas of improvement;
  12. gain confidence and self-esteem toward mastery of skill set in area of focus;
  13. demonstrate an awareness of expectations needed for quality workmanship;
  14. develop problem-solving strategies for personal and professional situations;
  15. identify any barriers for task completion and develop effective strategies;
  16. identify and use appropriate tools to complete the task at hand;
  17. safely use tools to complete a task;
  18. demonstrate a mastery of skill set in area of training; and

AAV ABOVE AVERAGE -The student has mastered all or most course objectives/requirements in a minimum time frame and has exemplified good work and study habits.
COM COMPLETE – denotes that the student has mastered a satisfactory number of course objectives/requirements in a non-credit course
CRG CREDIT GRANTED - denotes that the student performance was satisfactory in a credit course.
NCG NO CREDIT GRANTED - denotes that the student performance was unsatisfactory.
PCG PARTIAL CREDIT GRANTED – denotes that the student has successfully completed a portion of the course objectives in a credit course.
