IEP 251: Integrated Environmental Planning Applications II is the final course in the three course Integrated Environmental Planning Applications continuum. It focuses on the development of professional planning skills and the practical application of the technical skills and scientific knowledge developed in other IEP courses. The majority of each student’s grade is determined by their preparation of a component of the courses capstone project. Preparation of this study takes place in discrete states throughout this course. Plan development, citizen participation strategies, and plan implementation strategies are the major focus of this course. Environmental assessment, planning process, planning theory, and planning ethics are also covered in this course. Students are expected to attend class and labs regularly and contribute actively and evenly to in-class discussions.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- prepare a detailed environmental or land use plan, including the following steps;
assemble and work with a team of professional planners and resource specialists;
develop a land use plan intended to achieve specific pre-determined goals and objectives;
collect and analyze substantive land use information as a precursor to making associated land use recommendations; and
develop, analyze, and graphically depict physical land use alternative for a specified planning area.
design and implement a public participation program based on a particular set of citizen participation objectives;
assess the potential environmental impacts of a proposed land use plan;
create appropriate, effective and financially constrained policy recommendations, implementation, and monitoring strategies;
display and present findings and recommendation in an appropriate and comprehensible manner;
- identify, quantify, and analyze potential environmental impacts associated with a specific development or conservation proposal;
- develop and apply realistic measures intended to mitigate significant or potentially significant environmental impacts;
- design and implement effective and fiscally constrained citizen participation strategies, including – forums, working groups, advisory committees, focus groups, open houses and informational sessions, websites, newsletters, hot-lines, surveys, charettes, nominal groups;
- identify potentially affected interests and evaluate their values and concerns and develop citizen participation strategies intended to achieve the development of informed consent
- design and prepare presentation graphics, visuals, and understand methods of plan and report production and publication. Including:
