TEXT 102: Silkscreen Printing: Students will learn various processes and approaches to silk-screen printing and explore the potential of printed imagery, repeating-pattern and other effects on cloth with a primary focus on printing using photo emulsion, natural dyes, mordants and modifiers.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:

  1. have utilized various techniques for silk-screen printing including stencils, resists and photo emulsion;
  2. understand and apply the different techniques and chemicals in proper context to the material chosen;
  3. have utilized techniques for designing and printing repeating pattern;
  4. understand basic fibre identification, preparation, dyeing and discharge techniques using various dyes; and
  5. understand the safe usage of materials and equipment.
