JEWL 103: Colour and Texture is an introduction to a wide variety of surface treatments and embellishments for jewelry, ranging from patinas to roller printing to keum boo. Create unique surface finishes to make your jewelry stand out. Emphasis is placed on small studio appropriate techniques, with a focus on environmentally sensitive alternatives. Where appropriate, historical context of processes will be discussed.

- demonstrate knowledge of how to apply a variety of decorative surface treatments to non-ferrous metals;
- demonstrate knowledge of relevant studio health and safety issues; and
- complete samples and projects which will demonstrate basic surface treatments on jewelry and metal surfaces.
