NURS 119: Nursing Practice 1: This course provides an introduction to nursing practices with opportunities to engage with healthy families in the community and with nurses in practice to explore the breath of nursing practice. Participants integrate their learning from other semester one courses with their beginning understanding of nursing practice.
Prerequisites: Admission to the nursing program.

Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- explain the role of the professional nurse in the practice setting;
- observe nurses’ work in a variety of settings;
- engage with clients and families in the community;
- analyze families’ perceptions and personal meanings of health and health promotion; and
- integrate learning’s from other first semester courses into family visits
