In GCOOL 110: Tournaments and Special Events Planning, you will discover the in's and out's of planning and conducting special activities and programs at the golf club. This course analyses standard grass-roots programming at the golf-club level as well as explaining the importance of developing strong junior golf and member-based programs. GCOOL 110 will cover event organization including opens, invitational's and corporategolf days while learning about the financial impacts of these events at all levels. Students will learn how to plan, coordinate and execute tournaments and special events from elaborate weddings to the club's weekly men's night.
Prerequisites: Students must have strong written and computer skills. Students are required to have computer access and high-speed Internet.

- describe the advantages of programming and hosting successful events at the golf club;
- provide event conveners with the tools and knowledge to organize and plan successful corporate events.
- explain the importance of a successful player development program;
- implement and execute thriving member events at your club;
- establish an event sales program that will target returning, incoming and outgoing business;
- develop and implement a tournament and event budget;
- explain the needs and wants of the corporate golf market;
- describe the various types of tournament formats and scoring systems;
- explain the importance of hosting and catering to non-golf events such as weddings, banquets and meetings;
- plan and coordinate the club "open", member/guest or "invitational" tournament; and
